I would add to that, the tryanny of local government as well, though that varies by location.Constitutional Insurgenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03251746798758539951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860387354345137184.post-91016689085015567632012-04-06T10:32:54.483-04:002012-04-06T10:32:54.483-04:00I like to point to stuff like this as a principle ...I like to point to stuff like this as a principle argument for a radically smaller federal government that sticks to its enumerated powers and leaves the rest to the states and the people.

Government has blasted its way into every last corner of our lives. It has become so important to everything, that it forces everyone to take sides. You can't afford to stay out of the fray; your particular interest group will lose out.

Microsoft learned that lesson back in the 90's. It used to give no political donations, no charities or foundations, it just stuck to making software, until the US and European government ganged up on it.

This is the insidiousness of the federal government. It draws a line and forces everybody to take sides, pitting us against one another. It doesn't have to be like this.Silverfiddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13541652236676260219noreply@blogger.com
