To their credit, there's no shortage of evolutionary biologists who are Christian in America. Perhaps these Christians have liberal ideas about abortion, war, budget priorities (fund my awesome university research!), etc., but they self-identify as Christian.
There is no conflict between Christianity and evolution. This homemade, social grenade was cooked up the worst evangelicals and Catholics among us. Rhetorically speaking, they have only been able to flay the rest of the country using abortion and the sekkkret homosexual agenda to expand their political influence for decades, and they're losing on the anti-gay front. The Christian-secular struggle is the new, happening wedge issue.
