Am I missing something here?

Two Democratic lawmakers on Monday will announce new legislation to regulate the online and mail-order sale of ammunition.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (N.J.) and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (N.Y.) said the new law would make the sale of ammunition “safer for law-abiding Americans who are sick and tired of the ease with which criminals can now anonymously stockpile for mass murder,” in a statement released Saturday.

Lautenberg and McCarthy, who will unveil their new proposal at New York’s City Hall say they intend to “make it harder for criminals to anonymously stockpile ammunition through the Internet.”

Don't both PayPal and credit cards negate the claim of 'anonymous'?

  2. As opposed to buying it in a gun store? No one does a background check or fills out a form when I buy ammo there.

It's more important to be seen to be doing something than to make any sense -- that's the way of the Left.

  3. As far as paypal....depends. If your account accepts credit cards, then you bank account is verified and your account is certainly not anonymous.

You can, however, start a new paypal account with an email that you don't use anywhere else, on either a public computer or using a VPN on your computer to hide your IP address. Then, go to 7-11 and buy paypal moneypak codes (with cash obviously) and deposit them into your account. It will be about as anonymous as it gets.

Your only problem would then be where you had it shipped.

That being said, I was asked for a driver's license number the one and only time I ordered ammunition online. I suppose you could get a fake ID and open a P.O. box with it for delivery as well, but after all of that you would probably just be better off going to the store and paying with cash.

Most people, I believe, will not go through that much effort, or even have the knowledge to do it without leaving traceable evidence on the net.

  4. PoI - Thanks for the info...it seems there's usually a way around everything. I think I'll stick with paying cash for ammo in person; the only worry I have then is the store cameras.
