The Downfall of the United States started here

Government workers in the city of Seattle have been advised that the terms "citizen" and "brown bag" are potentially offensive and may no longer be used in official documents and discussions.

KOMO-TV reports that the city's Office of Civil Rights instructed city workers in a recent internal memo to avoid using the words because some may find them offensive.

"Luckily, we've got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For 'citizens,' how about 'residents?'"

Bronstein told KIRO Radio the word "citizen" should be avoided because many people who live in Seattle are residents, not citizens.

"They are legal residents of the United States and they are residents of Seattle. They pay taxes and if we use a term like citizens in common use, then it doesn't include a lot of folks," Bronstein said.

I'm beyond words. It's part of the master Statist plan. If you're no longer a CITIZEN, but rather a cannot rely on the protections enshrined in the Constitution. RESIDENTS have no such rights....only CITIZENS do.

  1. Well, this CITIZEN is going to continue to BROWN BAG it, since the Obama economy hasn't been the Hope and Change they'd all promised.

  2. An inch a day, and how many people know this ?

  3. BRONSTEIN, eh? That ought to tell you something all by itself. THOSE people are at the root and heart of the leftist master plan to destroy us. Don't be fooled by the ones that pretend to be on "our" side. they're not.

  4. OMG!

    The devolution of America!

The post label "Assclowns" fits perfectly.

  5. And...

The ban on the term "brown bag" is so surreal that I have no words to express the contempt I feel for such politically-correct idiocy.

  6. All astute comments. This is the age in which all free citizens must stand together and repel the parasites.

  7. The term 'citizen' is so unfortaunately limiting to some bureaucrats & community organizers, carrying the whiff of, well, citizenship. 'Resident' can easily encompass all the Illegal Aliens (or 'undocumented Democrats' as Jay Leno refers to them), thus bypassing the annoying requirement to follow the law.

As for 'brown bag', well, I never cease to be amazed that there are people who will stare you straight in the face & argue such a ridiculous point.

    1. Reminds of the ignorance shown in the public outdry over the use of 'niggardly' a few years back.

These are the same people who when speaking of a black person from a predominately white non-US nation, either use the term 'African-American' or are simply stumped as to what the label them.

    2. CI,
Reminds of the ignorance shown in the public outdry over the use of 'niggardly' a few years back.

Wasn't that just the height of ignorance? Yet, a lot of average people went along with condemning the use of the word "niggardly" because it MIGHT offend someone. Sheesh.
