How the Army should do recruiting commercials

  1. In the mid-70s, post-Viet Nam, with the VOLAR, "Let the Army join you", beer machines in the barracks, go-go girls in the NCO club style of Army, the Marines brought out the "We don't promise you a rose garden" recruiting campaign.

Men joined in droves. The most successful recruiting campaign in history outside of Pearl Harbor or 9/11.

    1. I enlisted at the end of that era....the beer machines had gone, but go-go dancers still remained at the base clubs in Korea; though houseboys, DMZ rotations and six day weeks were also a thing of the past, by the time I got there.

I heard nothing but stories of how good things used to be.....except for the rampant drug use....
