I respect everyone's right to faith and worship, but.......

When you attempt to dictate my life, my liberty and most egregiously our foreign policy by your belief in an invisible omnipotent being.......

You earn my disdain and ridicule.
"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end of the United States . . . [W]e have to show that we are inextricably entwined, that as a nation we have been blessed because of our relationship with Israel, and if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play. And my husband and I are both Christians, and we believe very strongly the verse from Genesis [Genesis 12:3], we believe very strongly that nations also receive blessings as they bless Israel. It is a strong and beautiful principle."

  1. Bachmann (R-Israel)? Seriously, why do Republicans tie America together with Israel?

  2. I'm not sure about all the Republicans, but those that identify as fundamentalist Christians do so because they are afraid of the wrath of God if America doesn't stand with Israel. I've often wondered what that means in terms of Israel's ethics. Do they get a free pass on anything they want because they are the self-proclaimed "chosen people" of God?

Fundamentalist Christians honestly believe that if America blesses Israel that God will bless us as a nation, and if we go against Israel, in anything, that God will curse us as a nation. Looking around at the conditions both ethically and economically I wonder sometimes how we'd know the difference.

  3. There's a rational reason for supporting Israel. Its because Israel is the only SECULAR representative democracy surrounded by oppressive, murderous 'faith-based' Theocracies. The irony!

It's astonishing how Evangelical Dominionists like Michelle Bachmann can claim to be a champion of the Tea Party and an opponent of Big Government when her very idea of limited Government is to replace it with Big Church.

Speaking as a former evangelical, I'm just astonished by Christians who in their political conceits and limited view of God think they can use legislation to establish a country for Him on earth...This, when the scriptures tell us He already owns the entirety of the cosmos.

And when Jesus had already declared in John 18:36

"My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

The way I see it, Right-Wing Evangelicals are no different than Left-Wing Socialists. They are both unconstitutional control-freaks.
