I can't help but like the new Pope

Pope Francis has made some decision in his short tenure that I can only applaud; not being a Catholic, I nonetheless can see his ability to possibly reform the church in such a way, to balance faith and liberty...without the previous ostentatiousness.

And the latest reason I'm liking him more......

Biker culture came to the Vatican on Sunday as Pope Francis blessed thousands of Harley-Davidsons and their riders celebrating the manufacturer's 110th anniversary with a loud parade and plenty of leather.

Thundering Harley engines nearly drowned out the Latin recitation of the "Our Father" prayer that accompanied Francis as he greeted the crowd before Mass. Standing in his open-top jeep, Francis drove up the main boulevard leading to St. Peter's Square, blessing the thousands of people in what was a giant Harley parking lot.

Once the service got under way, bikers in their trademark leather Harley vests sat in the square alongside nuns and tens of thousands of faithful Catholics taking part in an unrelated, two-day pro-life rally.

Francis addressed them both afterward, giving a blessing to the "numerous participants" of the Harley gathering.

Zombies on the highways

Reposting this one again, because I am thinking of trying to get a smaller version.....one that could fit on the back of my helmet. I figured something like this might be a better fit because a sticker stating:

HEY ASSHOLE, IT'S CALLED THE PASSING LANE FOR A REASON...AND THOSE "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT" SIGNS...YEAH, THAT VIRGINIA STATE LAW YOU OXYGEN THIEF. BUT YOU'LL BE IN GOOD COMPANY BECAUSE THE TOOL WHO JUST CUT ME OFF INSTEAD OF WAITING 3 SECONDS TO PULL INTO THE 1 1/2 MILE STRETCH OF OPEN ROAD BEHIND ME IS COMING TO JOIN YOUR SNAIL PARADE. I WOULDN'T WANT YOUR TEXTING AND LOOKING AT YOUR PASSENGER WHILE TO BLATHER ON, TO GET IN THE WAY OF YOUR DRIVING...YOU KNOW, WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING...BUT COULD YOU JUST THIS ONCE SHOW SOME COMMON DAMN COURTESY...THE SAME THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM SOMEONE IN THE PASSING LANE IN FRONT OF YOU, DRIVING BELOW THE FRICKEN SPEED LIMIT? NO? OK THEN...HAVE A NICE DAY....DICK.

You might be able to sense that I rode the bike into work today.....

Rest easy Night Train...your journey is over

A Japanese man’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle that washed up on the shores of western Canada more than a year after it was swept away by the devastating tsunami will be preserved in a Harley museum in the U.S.
The 2004 FXSTB Softail Night Train motorcycle will be permanently housed in the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, Wis., as a memorial to the victims of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which swamped several coastal towns in northeastern Japan and left more than 15,000 people dead.
Mark found the motorcycle, still bearing its Japanese license plate, while driving his ATV on an isolated beach on Graham Island on the west coast of British Columbia on April 18. The bike, along with several other items, was inside a rusted cargo van container that apparently drifted more than 4,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean.

....I want.....

Let's face it: there are some people who will buy damn near anything with Steve McQueen's name on it — *cough* us *cough* — but this is one of those times that you needn't be ashamed about it. Based on the classic T100 and inspired by the Trophy TR6 McQueen rode during the stunt scene from The Great Escape, the Triumph Bonneville T100 Steve McQueen Edition Motorcycle ($TBA) will be limited to just 1,100 bikes, and features a Matt Khaki Green paint job, the late actor's signature on the side covers, a solo seat, blacked out headlamp, luggage rack, wheel rims, hubs, handlebars, rear springs, mirrors, and mudguard supports, and arrived individually numbered, with a plaque on the handlebar clamp and a certificate of authenticity.
