This man serves on the House Science Committee....

“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell. And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.” - Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA)
Really fills you with confidence about your Congress doesn't it?

  2. I think that it is appropriate to have someone on the Government "Science Committee" that has a differing point of view. God and Religion have been at odds for millenia and in fact are joined at the hip. Science has for so long tried to disprove religion through research giving it's theories such as the ones listed above. Creationism vs. Evolution. If I recall, evolution (as theorized by Darwin) and the Big Bang Theory are just that -- Theory! Both of which have not proven their theories. Likewise, creationism is not proven (through scientific means) and relies on faith. So to have opposing points of view is always a good thing to balance the scales so to speak. To disregard this politician because of his religion, for his religious beliefs alone is nothing more than bigoted and close minded.

  3. You keep believing,

    I'll keep evolving.

  4. Rosey - I think religious observations should be debated; though we have seen far more evidence weighing towards evolution, than the biblical version of creationism. Far more.

And speak all you wish of bigotry and close mindedness....Broun's own statement above epitomizes such.

  5. MSgt B - Belief and faith can be powerful positives......but I'm amazed at how far afield a majority demographic gets away with it's invented paradigm of victimhood.

  6. The problem with the evolution theory is we still do not have transition fossils, or talking cats.

Also, those of us who are not biologists can confuse adaptation with evolution.

Having said that, this man is unremarkable. Government is infested with people who demonstrate a profound ignorance of our founding documents. That is a bigger danger.
